How the shuffle works

Nobody can choose the order of the cards: not the dealer, not the house, not another player. Here’s how you can be sure.

  1. The dealer commits first. Before a shoe is shuffled, the server draws a secret seed from its cryptographic random number generator and publishes its SHA-256 fingerprint.
  2. You add your own. Your browser makes a random seed of its own, and so does everyone else at the table. The server can’t know them when it commits.
  3. A fair algorithm. The shoe is a Fisher–Yates shuffle driven by SHA-256 of all the seeds together, with rejection sampling, so every possible order is exactly as likely as any other. Cards come strictly off the top.
  4. Opened afterwards. When a shoe is retired, the dealer’s seed appears below. Check it matches the fingerprint, and recompute every card yourself.
  5. Nothing hidden from you that matters. The face-down card is never sent to anyone’s browser until it’s turned over. The shuffle never sees bets, balances or decisions.
